Formula Renault 2.0 driver Jake Hughes will race for both the ART Junior Team and Strakka Racing squad over the remainder of his 2014 campaign.

The reigning BRDC Formula 4 champion’s deal with ART will cover the remaining NEC rounds at Most this weekend at and at the Nurburgring finale three weeks later, while he will also compete for category newcomers Strakka at the Eurocup meetings at the Hungaroring and Jerez.

Hughes, 20, currently lies ninth in the FR2.0 NEC standings, having competed with Mark Burdett Motorsports since the beginning of the year. He claimed an early maiden podium during round two on home soil at Silverstone and has scored points in every race since then.

“I should start by thanking everyone at Mark Burdett Racing for their hard work so far this year,” said Hughes.

“It was a good team to be part of and I?m glad that we are parting amicably. ?I have been extremely encouraged by my pace in testing and I?m really looking forward to racing with ART and Strakka now. ?I will be giving it absolutely everything so you could definitely say that hopes are high.”

In 2013, Hughes made his full-time debut in single-seaters and ended up securing the title in the closely contested inaugural BRDC F4 season, picking up four wins and six other podiums along the way. He officially joined BMW Motorsport’s junior programme in May of this year.

French squad ART Junior Team has enjoyed a successful year in NEC thus far, currently sitting third in the teams’ standings. The teams’ sole full-time entrant Callan O’Keeffe occupies sixth in the standings and managed to bag a maiden win at Assen, while their part-time contestants Levin Amweg and Aurelien Panis stood on the top step of the podium at Silverstone and Hockenheim respectively.
