Graham takes BRDC F4 pole at Silverstone

by Peter Allen

Matthew Graham has claimed pole position for the first BRDC Formula 4 race of the weekend at Silverstone.

The SWR driver came out on top in a battle with championship leader Jake Hughes to secure top spot. 0.215 seconds slower than Graham, Hughes will line up alongside on the front row for this afternoon’s race.

“The session went very well, it all seemed to go my way,” said Graham afterwards. “I didn’t get much traffic around the lap, got a good time in and I’m really happy.

“There were a few cars up ahead which I was a bit worried about but I dropped back and in the end it paid off. There are some long straights here which provide an opportunity to overtake, but hopefully I can hold them off and I can win race one.”

Charlie Robertson took third ahead of Graham’s team-mate Jack Barlow. Gustavo Lima and Matt Bell will share row three, with Seb Morris – currently second in the standings – in seventh and Raoul Hyman eighth.

Jake Dalton was ninth and MGR team-mate Diego Menchaca tenth.
