Kevin Giovesi misses out on this weekend’s GP2 round at Silverstone due to illness according to Lazarus, with Fabrizio Crestani returning to the team in his place.
19-year-old Giovesi had won ‘on-the-road’ on his Auto GP debut at the British circuit at the start of June, only to be excluded afterwards for taking his pitstop at the start of the last lap.
A Lazarus statement on Thursday evening said that Giovesi “presented last night to the team a medical certificate that, due to indisposition, prevents him from taking part in the GP2 Series races at Silverstone this weekend.”
The team has called upon 25-year-old Crestani, who raced last year for Lazarus’ new GP2 venture until he was replaced following the Silverstone round. He has spent most of the past 12 months out of racing until he made a comeback, also in the aforementioned Auto GP round at Silverstone.
