Antonio Fuoco has been stripped of the chance to start from pole at home at Monza in the Formula 2 sprint race after being excluded from his eighth place finish in the feature race.

Ferrari-affiliated Charouz driver Fuoco was found to have used a non-compliant throttle map at the start of the race, “in breach of Technical Bulletin BT 18 008”.

As a result he was disqualified from the results, although he had already been given a five-second time penalty for exceeding track limits that would have dropped him out of eighth place anyway.

Inheriting the position, and with it reversed-grid pole for Sunday, is Ralph Boschung.

The MP Motorsport driver deployed the same strategy as race winner Tadasuke Makino of starting on the medium tyres and rejoined from his late pit-stop in eighth before being passed by Fuoco.

Boschung will start alongside Sergio Sette Camara, who set the fastest lap on his way to finishing seventh after starting in the pit-lane.
