Fumanelli fastest on final day of GP3 testing at Silverstone

David Fumanelli posted the quickest time on the final day of GP3 Series pre-season testing at Silverstone.

The Trident Racing driver was the pacesetter during the morning session, his time of 1m45.213s giving him a margin of 0.642 seconds over the opposition.

Facu Regalia was the only other driver to get below the 1m46s barrier as he continued to show decent form for ART. Alex Fontana claimed third place for Jenzer towards the end of the session, demoting Carlos Sainz Jr to fourth.

Dino Zamparelli had taken top spot at the midway point of the session before slipping to fifth place as he concentrated on a race run in the closing stages. Aaro Vainio was sixth ahead of Melville McKee, Wednesday pacesetter Ellinas, Giovanni Venturini and Nick Cassidy.

Ellinas was quickest in the afternoon session, but with light snow falling on another cold day at the English circuit, he was six tenths off Fumanelli?s morning benchmark and only the third driver into the 1m45s during the day.

Regalia was again second, 0.373s away from Ellinas and closely followed by his teammates Jack Harvey and Conor Daly.

Venturini took fifth ahead of Cassidy and Nick Yelloly, with Vainio, Zamparelli and Kevin Korjus completing the top ten.

The 2012 GP3 Series begins at Barcelona on the weekend of the Spanish Grand Prix, 10-12 May.
