Tio Ellinas set the fastest time of the first day of the final GP3 Series pre-season test at Silverstone with his final flying lap.
Cold temperatures meant that the first two hours of the morning session were quiet. The drivers did start putting in laps in the final hour, and it was Carlos Sainz Jr. who posted the fastest time with a 1m46.795s in his MW Arden machine.
Ellinas was second quickest for Marussia Manor, 0.594s slower than Sainz. David Fumanelli (Trident) and Alex Fontana (Jenzer) were the last men within a second of the pacesetting Spaniard, with Nick Cassidy fifth for Marussia Manor and Daniil Kvyat sixth.
Nick Yelloly, Giovanni Venturini and the Koiranen pairing of Aaro Vainio and Kevin Korjus completed the top ten.
In the afternoon, Ellinas took top spot at the chequered flag with a 1m46.211s following a late red flag. He demoted Facu Regalia by 0.036s.
Before Regalia moved ahead at the start of the final 30 minutes, Sainz had again been P1. Although he finished the session with the third best time, he then had all his times deleted for running underweight.
Yelloly inherited third ahead of fellow home drivers Jack Harvey and Melville McKee. Robert Visoiu was seventh, Fontana eighth with Korjus and Conor Daly completing the top ten.
The final day of pre-season testing takes place on Thursday.
