Lotus F1 junior driver Esteban Ocon has scored his maiden pole today at Moscow Raceway, topping Group B with a time of 1:31.451.
With Group B kicking off their runs first, Ocon posted a number of strong laps before completely dominating the opposition with his best lap. His main rival, Oliver Rowland, managed to get closer to the time set by Ocon in the closng stages of the session, but ultimately had to settle for second in the group.
Group A was, yet again, topped by Pierre Gasly, who continuously improved on his laptimes throughout the session yet ultimately came about a tenth short of matching Ocon’s Group B clincher. Ignazio D’Agosto emerged as a group frontrunner as well, consistently rivaling Gasly before taking second, which the Italian and the KTR team seemed very happy with.
In Group B, the top five was wrapped up by Mikko Pakari, Egor Orudzhev and Bruno Bonifacio. Meanwhile, late-lappers Oscar Tunjo, Jake Dennis and Luca Ghiotto completed the top five in Group A.
