Brazilian driver and Esports champion Igor Fraga will race in the Formula Regional European Championship this year with DR Formula by RP Motorsport.
The 20-year-old was Brazilian Formula 3 Light champion in 2017, and last year came second in NACAM Formula 4 and fourth in USF2000.
Last November he won the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Sport Nations Cup in Monaco and followed that in January by winning McLaren’s Shadow Project competition, and hoped his virtual successes would help him progress his real-world career.
Japan-born Fraga’s campaign in the Regional Formula 3 series will be his first in European single-seaters.
He joins Mexican driver Raul Guzman in the DR Formula team, having previously raced for team boss Danilo Rossi in karting.
DR Formula is partnering with multiple Euroformula Open title-winning outfit RP Motorsport for its move into FREC.
