Joshua Duerksen will continue with Arden for a second season in the Formula Regional European Championship.

The 19-year-old made the step up from the Italian Formula 4 championship last season and took seven points finishes in his rookie campaign.

This year, Durksen hopes to build on that experience and aims for podium finishes in 2023.

“I am very happy to say that I have renewed my contract with Arden Motorsport to compete in Formula Regional Championship,” he said.

“Last year I enjoyed every moment spent on this team. I feel lucky to continue my career with such a talented and passionate team.

“Since my arrival at Arden, I have managed to grow in a championship as demanding as the one we participate in, which allows me to continue my dream of reaching the top levels. I am confident that, with the support of Arden and the incredible technical team, we can continue to achieve great things together in 2023.

“I am very grateful for the trust they have placed in me and I am already looking forward to getting back in the car and starting the season!”

Durksen is the first driver to be confirmed for Arden for the upcoming FREC season.

He joined the squad in 2022 after three seasons in ADAC Italian and Formula 4, where he claimed multiple victories.

His best FREC result to date is sixth place, which he achieved at Imola, the Red Bull Ring and Barcelona. He finished comfortably ahead of fellow rookie team-mate Noel Leon and seven points behind team-mate Eduardo Barrichello.

“We are delighted to have Joshua with us for another season,” said Arden’s team manager Ben Salter.

“He improved a lot throughout last year, and we put together a strong witner test program to fine-tune a few areas. We all know that he is also extremely dedicated and hardworking, we believe his presence will be beneficial to everyone on the team. We can’t wait for the season to start.”

The 2023 FREC season is set to start in April at Imola.
