Max Chilton grabbed his second Indy Lights pole position in the Laguna Seca season finale’s qualifying.

The former F1 driver edged ahead of Juncos duo Kyle Kaiser and Spencer Pigot by a tenth in the final minutes of the session.

In taking pole, Chilton also secured the new Laguna Seca track record for Lights, the previous benchmark belonging to current IndyCar regular Tony Kanaan.

Although Pigot ended up as the fastest title contender, his two rivals completed the session just behind him as Ed Jones and Jack Harvey were fourth and fifth.

8Star’s Sean Rayhall took sixth, followed by Felix Serralles and RC Enerson as the top ten was completed by Shelby Blackstock and Juan Piedrahita.
