Dan Cammish shook off Nico Maranzana at a safety car restart to take his 19th win of the Formula Ford GB season in the first race at Knockhill.

After starting on pole Cammish held the lead through the opening lap, when a first corner collision between Andy Richardson and Camren Kaminsky brought out the safety car.

Cammish was able to use a good restart to put a gap between himself and Maranzana – who said it was his first experience of a safety car – which he then extended to 2.4 seconds on his way to the chequered flag. Maranzana is due to start race two from pole as he bids to bring Cammish’s unbeaten streak to an end.

Jayde Kruger spun out of third place at the restart, handing the place to Harrison Scott. Suffering from overheating problems, Scott was passed by Sam Brabham on the last lap but just held onto fourth by two thousandths of a second from?Juan Rosso. Kruger got ahead of James Abbott for sixth.
