British Formula 4 will offer 2018 champion Kiern Jewiss and his successor a test in a Formula Renault Eurocup car at Yas Marina next month.
The complimentary test comes courtesy of the series’ mutual tyre supplier Hankook, and will be held in the two days immediately after the Eurocup season finale in Abu Dhabi.
Each driver will be guaranteed a minimum 250km of running in the Regional Formula 3-spec Tatuus T-318 car, which this season replaced the FR2.0 machinery used in the championship since its creation in 1991.
One driver will complete the test in daylight, with the other running the following day under floodlit conditions during the night.
?We?re very grateful to our partners and official tyre supplier, Hankook, for their part in putting this reward together,? said British F4 promoter Sam Roach.
?Providing a platform for the next generation of rising stars to develop and showcase their talent is what British F4 is all about, so I?m delighted we can again offer a chance to our current and next champion to keep the momentum going after their success in the UK.
?The FR19 is a fantastic car, well-suited to the transition from F4 to F3, and the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi provides a superb backdrop for these drivers as they continue their journey up the FIA?s Global Pathway.?
After winning the F4 title as a rookie, Jewiss stepped up to BRDC British Formula 3 and is an outside contender for the title at this weekend’s Donington Park season finale.
The British F3 season still has three rounds left to run, with Carlin’s Zane Maloney currently leading Double R Racing’s Sebastian Alvarez by 37 points. There are nine drivers racing at Knockhill this weekend who could still be crowned champion.
