Matt Bell and Charlie Robertson won rounds five and six of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship at Brands Hatch on Sunday, the latter completing a fine weekend with his maiden victory.
Starting from the reverse grid pole position after finishing eighth in the weekend?s opening race on Saturday, privateer Bell led from start to finish to secure his second win in the series.
James Fletcher, making his series debut this weekend, held second place throughout for Team KBS and finished six tenths behind Bell. The small gap was aided by a lengthy safety car period mid-race that wiped out Bell?s early lead.
Ginetta Junior champion Robertson climbed from seventh on the grid to finish third, passing Sennan Fielding for the final podium spot on lap 14. Fielding then spun out after contact with Matthew Graham, promoting Jake Hughes into fourth and points leader and race one winner Jake Dalton into fifth.
Falco Wauer finished sixth in the second KBS car ahead of Graham, Diego Menchaca, Gustavo Lima and Ross Gunn.
Courtesy of the fastest lap time of the previous two races, Robertson began race three from pole position and converted it into a dominant first win in single-seaters, finishing 10.3 seconds ahead of Dalton.
Robertson?s HHC team-mate Raoul Hyman completed the podium in third after starting from the front row, keeping Graham and Fletcher behind. Wauer was again sixth ahead of Bell, Lima, Menchaca and Jack Barlow.
Dalton leads the standings on 139 points with Robertson now up into second on 123, two ahead of Bell. SWR pairing Graham and Barlow are next, with pre-weekend points leader Seb Morris having slipped down to sixth after a disastrous weekend.
