FA Racing will expand its Formula Regional European Championship line-up at Mugello this weekend to four cars, with the addition of Arias Deukmedjian.
The 16-year-old first appeared in single-seater racing in 2018, when he entered F2000 Championship Series in a Formula 4 car and claimed several class wins. He also won the United States national title in X30 Junior karts that year as well.
Deukmedjian then concentrated on senior karting for two years before returning to single-seaters in US F4. He claimed two podiums in the first three rounds of 2021, then stepped up to FRegional Americas last month to prepare for his FREC debut.
As the MP Motorsport-run FA Racing team already has three full-time drivers in FREC – Alexandre Bardinon, Andrea Rosso and Gabriele Bortoleto – it has entered Deukmedjian as a wildcard for Mugello.
Deukmedjian will be the second driver not eligible to score points this weekend, as R-ace GP is rolling out a new chassis for F4 graduate Sami Meguetounif to bring its line-up up to five cars. Meguetounif will also contest the Monza season finale later in October.
Spectators will be able to attend the Mugello round in the grandstands and in the paddock, and it is anticipated the same will apply for Monza.
Over in FRegional Japanese Championship, Honda junior and Japanese F4 racer Kakunoshin Ohta has been handed his series debut with Rn-sports for this weekend’s Sportsland SUGO double-header.
Riki Okusa also returns to the grid with the TOM’S-linked PONOS Racing team after winning two races when he appeared in the Twin Ring Motegi round last month.
