Sebastian Alvarez converted pole to victory with a dominant performance in the final British Formula 4 race of the weekend at Snetterton.
The Double R Racing driver briefly came under pressure from front row man Bart Horsten on the opening lap, but Alvarez was able to hold onto the position and pull clear from the Arden driver.
While Arden’s Horsten led a four car battle for second, Alvarez set fastest laps on his way to his third win of the season, 14 seconds clear of the rest of the field.
Horsten spent most of the race having to defend against the JHR Developments duo of Carter Williams and Josh Skelton and championship leader Zane Maloney.
Williams, Skelton, and Maloney took it in turns to challenge for the runner up position, but Horsten put in a perfect defence to retain the position.
In the second half of the race, the fight broke into two separate battles, with Skelton trying to find a way past Horsten and Maloney defending against Williams. Both Horsten and Maloney were able to defend their positions, despite both JHR drivers pulling alongside their competitors a number of times.
Skelton once again pulled alongside Horsten heading onto the start finish straight on the final lap, but couldn?t quite get ahead before the chequered flag. Horsten took second by 0.034s.
Maloney held onto fourth, aheada of Williams and race two winner Arden’s Tommy Foster. Alex Connor (Arden) finished sixth under pressure from Louis Foster (Double R), Alex Walker (JHR) and clashing Fortec Motorsports duo Mariano Martinez and Roberto Faria.
