Jack Aitken‘s step up to Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 with Fortec Motorsports has been confirmed.
The 18-year-old British racer moves on to the premier FR2.0 series after finishing second in the NEC with Fortec in 2013, behind team-mate Matt Parry.
He also entered three Eurocup rounds as a wildcard – two with the Manor MP team at Moscow and Barcelona and one with Fortec at Spielberg where he claimed a best result of ninth.
“I had a good 2013, narrowly missing out on the NEC championship and finishing within the top 10 in Eurocup wild card races,? said Aitken, who began his single-seater career with Fortec in the Intersteps series in 2012.
?I am very excited about 2014, which started with me attending the Autosport International show representing the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award through interview sessions on stage and driving in the Live Action Arena every day.
“I am very happy to have signed with Fortec again as I believe they are one of the best teams in motorsport, and because continuity is important in such a competitive series.”
Fortec’s Jamie Dye added: “We are delighted that we are keeping Jack for another season at Fortec Motorsports. We know that his speed and experience will place him firmly as a front runner in the Eurocup championship, strengthening the team for our 2014 challenge.”
Current Toyota Racing Series points leader Martin Rump previously announced that he would compete in the Eurocup for Fortec this year, while Parry is expected to complete the trio.
