Euronova’s Michele Beretta took his first Formula Abarth win in race three at Mugello, converting a front row start into a controlled victory.
As Alessio Rovera was penalized with a three-place grid drop for race two contact with Kevin Gilardoni, it was series guest Dario Orsini who inherited pole. However, having gotten off the line nicely, he didn’t have the pace to run away from the field and was passed by Beretta on lap two.
From that point on, it was a calm race, with Beretta controlling the gap to Orsini until the checkered flag. Gilardoni rounded out the podium in fourth with Rovera struggling for pace in fourth.
Giada De Zen finished fifth, ahead of a recovering Simone Iaquinta, while Sergey Trofimov was again the best National class runner in seventh.
The one major incident in the race took place when Luis Michael Dorrbecker collided with Giorgio Roda on lap 13, putting the Italian out of the race.
Rovera keeps his lead in the standings, with 136 points to Beretta’s 96 and Iaquinta’s 88.
