Van Amersfoort’s Gustavo Menezes picked up his first win in German F3 on Saturday, taking advantage of starting fourth in the reverse-grid Lausitz race and converting his row two spot into a victory.
Menezes managed a good start and was first by lap one, clearing front row starters Sebastian Balthasar and Nabil Jeffri. As most of the Cup class opposition behind him found themselves involved in wheel-to-wheel fights, Menezes managed to build up a gap and finished five seconds ahead of second-placed Thomas Jager.
Championship leader Marvin Kirchhofer took third, narrowly beating out teammate and main championship rival Artem Markelov. John Bryant-Meisner, feeling rather unwell throughout the round, took fifth, holding off race one winner Emil Bernstorff. Matteo Cairoli and Jeffri rounded out the top eight.
Hubertus-Carlos Vier took the Trophy win, with Balthasar finding himself disqualified from second in class post-race, his car failing the technical inspection.
