Cammish extends unbeaten start to eight races with two Thruxton wins

Dan Cammish maintained his unbeaten start to the British Formula Ford campaign in rounds seven and eight of the season on Saturday at Thruxton.

He had perhaps his toughest challenge yet though in the first of the two races when surprise package Andrew Richardson nearly beat him off the line from an impressive third on the grid.

Richardson, who switched to single-seaters from Ginetta GT racing for this season, pressured Cammish for the rest of the first lap but the JTR driver managed to hold the lead and went on to claim a five-second win.

Richardson fell behind Lassi Halminen on lap four but would regain the place later in the race when the Finn retired to the pits with an alternator problem.

Halminen?s Falcon team-mate Harrison Scott finished close behind Richardson in third place, with Juan Rosso in fourth. Luke Williams fell back after contact on the first lap with Camren Kaminsky but fought his way up to fifth place, ahead of Fred Martin-Dye.

Nico Maranzana passed Sam Brabham to take seventh, with Kaminsky ninth and James Abbott tenth.

Cammish went untroubled in race two, quickly building a comfortable lead before cruising to a five-second victory.

The battle for second however was a thrilling one, with the position changing hands several times. Williams held the place early on, while Martin-Dye came past Scott to take third on lap two after a superb start to the race.

Scott fought back though, re-passing Martin-Dye for third on lap four before taking second from Williams three laps later. But after slipping back as far as sixth on lap two, it was Rosso who charged through to steal second place.

Kaminsky bounced back from a tough few races to take fourth behind Scott. Maranzana was fifth ahead of George Blundell, while Williams and Martin-Dye fell all the way back to seventh and eighth by the flag. Abbott and Brabham completed the top ten, with Richardson a lap down after stuffing his radiators with grass trying to avoid a spinning Brabham mid-race.
