Deagen Fairclough converted his second pole of the weekend into a lights-to-flag victory in GB3 race two at Silverstone.
The Hitech GP driver resisted pressure from Xcel Motorsport duo Rowan Campbell-Pilling and Lucas Fluxa to record his fourth win, and it’s the first time he has secured a double-triumph at a GB3 meeting.
As in Saturday’s opening contest, Fairclough made a good start to gain a clear lead immediately, while Campbell-Pilling maintained second and his team-mate Fluxa lost third to Rodin Motorsport’s Martin Molnar.
Molnar challenged Campbell-Pilling into Vale on the first lap but was forced wide, enabling Fluxa to sneak up the inside at Club and reclaim third.
Velocity Racing Development’s Patricio Gonzalez also tried to challenge Molnar, but he then lost out to his championship-leading team-mate Nikita Bedrin who drove around the outside at the Loop.
Fairclough held a 1.2-second lead at the end of lap one but that gap was soon halved by Campbell-Pilling, who had Fluxa in-tow, with the front three pulling clear of Molnar. Campbell-Pilling resisted pressure from Fluxa before slightly edging away, while also closing in further on Fairclough.
But a lead battle never materialised, with Fairclough controlling the pace to lead home Campbell-Pllling by 0.638s, with Fluxa completing the podium a further 2s adrift.
Molnar fended off Bedrin and Rodin’s Maxim Rehm to take fourth, the latter prevailing in an opening-lap tussle with team-mate Abbi Pulling and having also passed Gonzalez at Village to climb to sixth.
Arden’s Leon Wilson finished eighth ahead of Elite Motorsport’s Flynn Jackes, while Pulling faded to 10th. Hitech’s Jacob Micallef was 11th, and Italian F4 race-winner Edu Robinson finished 12th in the second race of his GB3 cameo with Elite.
