Ye takes fourth Barcelona pole in a row for Euroformula finale

Yifei Ye completed a lockout of four poles out of four at Barcelona in the final Euroformula qualifying session of the season.

Despite early morning fog delaying and shortening proceedings, the session played out very similarly to the previous ones with Ye topping the times at the end of his first run and then improving on the second run to take an assertive pole position.

Motopark’s Manuel Maldonado this time converted the pace on his first run into a frontrunning pace as the track got faster, and he ended up pipping Ye’s CryptoTower Racing Team team-mate Lukas Dunner to second on the grid.

Andreas Estner was shuffled down to fourth, but was still the top Van Amersfoort Racing driver by 0.042 seconds over his younger brother Sebastian Estner.

Behind them was Motopark’s Cameron Das and Carlin’s Ido Cohen, who had his most competitive showing of the weekend but could not qualify higher after a car-catching moment on his best lap.

Niklas Krutten, chasing Andreas Estner for third in the points over the final two races of the weekend, could only qualify in eighth. Zane Maloney (Carlin) and Alexandre Bardinon (VAR) completed the top 10.

Double R Racing’s Louis Foster had technical problems that limited his mileage, but he manages to get back on track in the final minutes and go 12th fastest ahead of Drivex School’s Glenn van Berlo.
