29-year old Italian Francesco Dracone has sealed a return to Auto GP with Super Nova racing for the next round of the series at the Hungaroring.
Dracone’s career began over a decade ago in Italian F3 which he raced in until 2005, making his debut in what is now called Auto GP, the Euroseries 3000 in 2006.
He drove in the series for 4 seasons with a best finish of seventh in 2009, which was evidently enough to impress IndyCar outfit Conquest Racing with whom he drove two races in the 2010 Indy Car season.
Failing to land a full-time seat in America, he returned to Europe, competing in Auto GP again in 2011 and 2012 with Emmebi Motorsport, Ombra Racing and Virtuosi UK. He finished 21st in 2010 and 16th in 2012.
It is unclear if Dracone aims to turn this into a drive for the remainder of the season, or indeed if he is replacing one of the teams other drivers, Antonio Spavone and Vittorio Ghirelli, who lie 7th and 4th in the championship respectively with 2/8 rounds completed.
