Qualifying for the FIA Formula 3 race at the Hungaroring has been postponed due to wet conditions, with the championship currently discussing ‘suitable solutions’.
The session had been running for less than five minutes when the red flag was brought out, as rain intensified after the damp Formula 2 practice session.
Lirim Zendeli had spun off at Turn 4 and could not get going again, and as cars were making their way back to the pits, Liam Lawson ran off at the same corner.
After a short wait while the medical car tested the conditions, it was deemed the session would not resumed.
Organisers may try to find an alternate slot, but free practice times could come into play if there isn’t space in the timetable.
The championship said afterwards that “suitable solutions are under discussion and more information will be provided in due time.”
David Beckmann topped free practice ahead of Zendeli, while Prema’s championship leaders Oscar Piastri and Frederik Vesti finished outside the top 20.
