Pedro Cardoso, last year’s South American Formula 4 champion, will race in Euroformula Open in 2017 with Teo Martin Motorsport.
The 17-year-old began the 2016 season in Brazilian?F3 and is currently competing in the MRF Challenge, scoring a podium on the opening weekend in Bahrain last month.
Last week he spent a day at the GP3 test in Abu Dhabi with Trident, as he did with Campos 12 months earlier, but it is in Euroformula Open where he will make his return to European competition, having contested some Ginetta Junior races in 2014.

“The reason we signed with the team is because we believe that they are in a good position to fight for the Euroformula Open championship, because we have all that?s needed for it to happen; incredible structure and investment of Mr. Martin, extremely serious and experienced team principal Emilio De Villota and overall top engineers and mechanics working alongside me.
“On top of all that, the Euroformula Open is a top level championship with strong equipment, best tracks on Europe and high level battles with the other teams and drivers.”
Team owner Martin added that Cardoso “is a fantastic asset to have and will no doubt show himself well from the very start of the 2017 season as he gets to grip with a new car and a new challenge.”
Teo Martin Motorsport went winless in its first season after taking over Emilio De Villota’s Euroformula Open outfit in 2016, with its best results being the third places achieved by guest drivers Harrison Scott and Dorian Boccolacci at the final two rounds.
