Lewis Wherrell and Timo Jungling shared the victories on the second day of the British Formula 4 race weekend at Snetterton.

It was a mixed day for Jungling, who won the first race of the day.  The JHR Developments driver started from the reversed grid pole position and held onto the lead on the opening lap, holding off Fortec’s Cash Felber. An early safety car, brought out for Piotr Orzenchowski, neutralised the field. On the restart, Felber was kept under pressure from Dries Van Langendonck, allowing Jungling to escape up the road.

Van Langendonck couldn’t find a way past Felber, who took his second podium finish of the season. George Proudford-Nalder took fourth ahead of Ethan Jeff-Hall.

Jungling would not get further than the first lap in the final race of the day. An opening lap incident wiped out the race two winner, along with Cole Hewetson, and brought out the red flag. Less than 10 minutes remained when racing resumed, and Wherrell was kept under pressure from Adam Al Azhari throughout.

Despite an attempt to get alongside the race leader, Al Azhari couldn’t find a way through and Wherrel came through to win by 0.250s.

Al Azhari was challenged by Ethan Lennon off the line while Wherrell retained the race lead. The Hitech driver managed to keep second but before he could bring the fight to Wherrell ahead the safety car was brought out.

Hewetson and Jungling had been battling for position just outside the top 10 when the pair came together and were sent into the gravel. Further around the track, Kit Belofsky got into trouble and was left stranded at the side of the road. After a brief period behind the safety car, the race was red flagged while the two incidents were cleared.

The race restarted behind the safety car and wouldn’t go green until just over nine minutes remained on the clock. The top three pulled away from the rest of the field while Scott Kin Lindblom challenged Theo Palmer for fourth. Wherrell and Al Azhari gradually pulled away from Lennon in third, making it a two way fight for the lead.

A small mistake from Wherrell meant he put a wheel on the grass and got slightly out of shape. That gave Al Azhari the room to attempt a move for the lead. He managed to get alongside Wherrell but couldn’t keep his nose ahead and fell back into second.

The small scrap brought Lennon back on their tail, but he was never close enough to challenge for position.

Behind them, Lindblom got ahead of Palmer and set the fastest lap of the race on the final lap as he attempted to close in on the leaders.

Proudford-Nalder climbed up the order to finish sixth. He passed Ethan Jeff-Hall on the initial start to move into eighth, then passed Van Langendonck on the restart. The next driver in the queue was team-mate Joseph Smith. As the pair battled for position, Smith was sent wide and tumbled down the order.

Proudford Nalder couldn’t make any other progress and came under pressure from Van Langendonck in the closing stages of the race. The pair were separated by just 0.404s, but Proudford Nalder managed to come out on top. Jeff-Hall finished eighth ahead of Jarrett Clark and Tommy Harfield.
