Eurocup-3 will visit Dutch circuit Assen next season, making it the most high-profile single-seater series to race there since the 2010s.
Best known for the motorcycling grand prix it hosts each year, the track has also hosted top-tier open-wheel competition as Champ Car raced there in 2007 and Superleague Formula held rounds at the track in 2010 and ’11.
The Formula Acceleration 1 championship concluded in 2014 with races at Assen, where the Netherlands’ Nigel Melkers won twice, then in 2019 there was Formula Regional cars racing at the track as the all-female W Series ran a double-header which included a non-championship race.
Older cars have raced at the track since in BOSS GP events, but since Zandvoort’s return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2021 it has become the go-to place in the Netherlands to race at for junior single-seater series. Eurocup-3 has headed there in each of its first two seasons.
Assen will host round five of Eurocup-3’s 2025 campaign, which will consist of eight events in seven countries. It has not been confirmed if the two-race format will be retained.
There is quite a late start date for the FRegional-based series, with the season-opening round at the Red Bull Ring scheduled for May 16-18. Trips to Algarve (June 6-8) and Paul Ricard (June 20-22) follow, then Monza marks the halfway point on July 5/6.
Breaking up the summer break is the trip to Assen, on August 8-18, then the paddock returns to action in September. They race at Spa-Francorchamps on the first weekend of the month, and at Jerez two weeks later.
Barcelona hosts the season finale on November 14-16, which is late in the year for a European series to conclude.
