Reigning champion Callum Voisin will make a one-off return to GB3 with Rodin Motorsport at this weekend’s Brands Hatch season finale.
Voisin, who started out in entry-level sportscar series Ginetta Junior, spent two years in GB3 with Rodin under its previous guise as Carlin. He came third with three victories as a rookie in 2023, and took last year’s crown despite only winning twice.
The 18-year-old impressed on stepping up to FIA Formula 3 with Rodin this year, coming 12th in the standings and scoring his and the team’s maiden victory in the Spa-Francorchamps feature race, having also been first on-the road at Silverstone before a penalty demoted him to third.
Voisin will race Rodin’s third car, which is driven by Ugo Ugochukwu when it does not clash with his Formula Regional European Championship commitments. Last time out it was filled by debutant Freddie Slater, who is aiming to seal the Italian Formula 4 title this weekend.
“I’m very excited to be racing this weekend at Brands Hatch,” said Voisin. “It is one of the best and most iconic circuits on the calendar and one that I have many good memories. We have a clear goal and what we want to achieve as a team, so I will give it my all to make it happen.”
Reigning GB4 champion Tom Mills will return to the cockpit this weekend by stepping up to GB3 with Chris Dittmann Racing.
The 19-year-old last raced 12 months ago at Brands Hatch, where he sealed the GB4 crown following a dominant sophomore campaign with his family’s KMR Sport team that included 10 victories. He has spent this year working as KMR’s driver coach, having lacked the budget to continue racing full-time.
Mills began his car racing career in 2021, coming fourth as a rookie in BRSCC National Formula Ford 1600. He was a frontrunner at the FFord Festival and Walter Hayes Trophy too, but was hampered by collisions.
“I’ve been out of racing for a year and didn’t think I would get the chance to race in the GB3 championship,” said Mills. “I thought the step would be too big as we can’t self-fund it, but using the prize money from winning the GB4 title last year we’ve been able to put something together to be able to compete at Brands Hatch.
“Motorsport is a funny world, and you can be forgotten quite quickly, so it will be nice to get my face back out there. Brands is where I won the GB4 championship last year, so it is a place I like a lot.
“It’s going to be a big step, and I am right in at the deep end. I am a bit under-prepared, but I will give it my all and there’s no pressure. Everyone else has done the whole season and will be on the top of their game – and quite a lot are second year drivers – so I am happy just to be able to have this opportunity.”
