The Indy Nxt season will remain at the current length of 14 races for 2024, but there will be one more oval race than this year.
IndyCar has dropped its second visit to Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course for next season, which had been part of the supporting Indy Nxt series’ schedule in 2023. Its replacement on Indy Nxt’s calendar had already been confirmed, as last month IndyCar announced that its feeder series would be heading to the Milwaukee Mile oval for 2024.
That will be the penultimate race of the season, on August 31, with the streets of Nashville hosting the 2024 finale two weeks later.
As usual the season begins in St. Petersburg, this time on March 8-10, then there is a lengthy break before drivers are back in action at Barber Motorsports Park on April 27/28.
IMS hosts the first of two double-header rounds on May 9-11, with June being the busiest month on the schedule as the Detroit street race on the second day of the month is followed a week later by a race at Road America, then a Laguna Seca double-header on June 22/23.
The series then heads to Mid-Ohio on July 6/7, and a week later has its first oval race of the year on Iowa Speedway.
There is another month-long break before races at the Gateway oval (August 17) and then Portland (August 25). Teams go straight from there to Milwaukee, which last featured on the calendar in 2015.
“The 2024 Indy Nxt schedule builds on the growth and success of the 2023 season,” said series director Levi Jones.
“We enjoyed great competition among a growing field of 17 to 19 cars at nearly every event, with a talented group of drivers from all over the world.”
