German F3 champion Marvin Kirchhofer put a commanding performance in the last qualifying session of the 2013 German F3 season, beating the rest of the field by more than 0.6s on his way to pole.
Most of the session saw Emil Bernstorff lead Kirchhofer by a narrow margin, yet, in the closing stages, the Briton had to settle for second. More crucially, he was able to beat his vice-championship rival Artem Markelov, who completed the Lotus 1-2-3.
The best non-Lotus driver was John Bryant-Meisner, who narrowly missed out on the top three, edging over Gustavo Menezes in fifth. Polish driver Tomasz Krzeminski secured sixth, as Nabil Jeffri was the last person who was beaten by Kirchhofer by less than two seconds. The top 10 was completed by Jordi Weckx, Matteo Cairoli and Nicolai Sylvest. The top Trophy time belonged to Freddy Killensberger, 14th overall.
On second-best times, Kirchhofer will again start from pole, ahead of Bernstorff and Bryant-Meisner.
