Magnussen on top again in second Paul Ricard practice

by Peter Allen

Kevin Magnussen showed he could be hard to beat in the Formula Renault 3.5 round at Paul Ricard by topping the timesheets again in second practice.

After setting the pace in the first session, the Dane went quickest with his final effort in the second session of 1m47.836s. That was more than half a second faster than his morning benchmark and 0.368s quicker than his closest rival Stoffel Vandoorne could manage. Magnussen will wrap up the title this weekend if he can outscore Vandoorne by 15 points.

After going second in the morning, Nico Muller was again strong in third place. Lotus pair Marco Sorensen and Marlon Stockinger also had a good session and were sitting first and second at one point before ending up fourth and fifth respectively.

Antonio Felix da Costa was sixth, one spot ahead of his fellow Red Bull Junior Carlos Sainz. Will Stevens,?Arthur Pic and Will Buller completed the top ten.
