British squad Fortec have signed Swedish racer John Bryant-Meisner for the two final rounds of the 2013 FIA F3 European Championship season.
The Swede will join team regulars Felix Serralles and Pipo Derani in European F3 outings at Vallelunga and Hockenheim.
Bryant-Meisner, 18, is currently competing in German F3 with Performance Racing. He sits fifth in the standings with two reverse-grid race victories to his name.
“Joining Fortec Motorsports for the final two rounds of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship marks a fantastic opportunity for me,” said the driver. “I already get along very well with the team, and they are one of the main players on the junior single-seater arena. The FIA Formula 3 European Championship is extremely competitive ? I’m well aware of that ? and this will undoubtedly be the greatest challenge of my career so far. I have learned a lot with Performance Racing in the ATS Formula 3 Cup this year, however, so hopefully I?ll be able to do a solid job. I want to continue to gain as much experience as possible, and this puts me in a great position to do so. I’m really looking forward to driving the F312 chassis and to compete against the fastest drivers in Formula 3.”
Fortec occupies fourth in the teams’ standings in European F3, having been rocked by several driver changes since the beginning of the season. Team regulars Dmitry Suranovich and Josh Hill have announced their retirement from motorsports midway through 2013, with part-timer Will Buller leaving the team’s European F3 squad to focus on his Formula Renault 3.5 campaign.
“We are really happy to have John in the team,” stated Fortec team manager Andy Scott. “Joining us before the mid season test gives him a great opportunity to get used to the car before the Vallelunga event.”
Bryant-Meisner has been racing in junior single-seaters since 2010, with full-time campaigns in Formula Renault 2.0 Sweden, the Eurocup FR2.0 and FR2.0 NEC. His 2012 foray into German F3 enjoyed a promising start, with a podium finish at the season opener, but a testing crash sidelined the Swede for the rest of the season. After his 2013, he’s also won two British F3 races as a guest driver in addition to his German F3 efforts.
