DEForce Racing has brought its USF Juniors line-up for 2023 up to three drivers with the addition of Quinn Armstrong and Nicolas Giaffone.
Armstrong stepped up from karts to cars with the team last year, with the Australian doing four of the six USF Juniors rounds in the series’ inaugural season when it used Formula 4 cars.
His best finish was a seventh place, and he ended up 12th in the standings. Post-season he tested in USF2000 to help prepare him for the new USF Juniors car which is based on that of the next step up on the IndyCar support bill.
“Working with DEForce over the past year has shown me the hard work and commitment that the team puts in day in and day out,” Armstrong said. “Being part of such a strong team, I am certain that together we can achieve big things.”
Giaffone, the son of IndyCar race-winner Felipe Giaffone, joins the team after racing in the inaugural season of the Brazilian F4 championship last year with Cavaleiro Sports.
He won three reversed-grid races en route to fifth in the standings in his rookie car racing campaign.
“Joining DEForce for the 2023 season is massive,” Giaffone said. “I have been dreaming of IndyCar since my father raced there, so joining the USF Pro championship programme [of IndyCar support series] is a realisation for me.
“Together with DEForce, I believe we can achieve great things. Our testing was very positive and I enjoyed it a lot. This will be a season to learn as much as possible about the tracks and the ways I can drive the car. I am very excited to see what this season will bring and I thank David and Ernesto [Martinez, the team owners] for the opportunity.”
Armstrong and Giaffone will be team-mate to Lucas Fecury, who is also racing in Formula Regional Oceania in 2023.
