Victor Martins has committed to a third season in Formula 2 with ART Grand Prix.

The 23-year-old Frenchman will be embarking on his fifth single-seater campaign as an ART GP driver, having first driven for them in 2020 when he won the Formula Regional-spec Formula Renault Eurocup.

After coming fifth with MP Motorsport as an FIA Formula 3 Championship rookie in 2021, he returned to ART GP in 2022 and won the title with two race victories. In his two F2 seasons since then, he has claimed two wins and 12 other podiums.

“I’m very excited to continue the adventure with ART GP in 2025,” said Martins.

“This winter, we worked extensively on all the areas we needed to improve from 2024, and now we’re ready to turn those efforts into results on track. The season is starting, and it’s time to focus on testing in Barcelona.”

Having come fifth in the standings in 2023, and dropping two places in the points table last year, Martins is looking to be on top this season with ART GP.

“We share a common goal: doing everything we can to win the title. I’m surrounded by the best people to achieve my ultimate dream: Formula 1.”

Martins has raced with the backing of the Alpine F1 team in previous seasons, but there was no mention of his association with them in the announcement of his F2 drive, he ran without their branding in post-season testing last year and he has removed mentions of the team from his social media profiles.

He has however tested for Alpine’s World Endurance Championship team in the off-season.

Martins will be team-mate to 2023 Super Formula champion Ritomo Miyata, who stepped down to F2 last year and was a lowly 19th in the standings. ART GP won the 2023 F2 title with Theo Pourchaire, and ran George Russell and Nyck de Vries to the crown in 2018 and ’19 respectively.

“Continuing with Victor in 2025 was an obvious choice,” said ART GP’s team principal Sebastien Philippe.

“We have a long history together, marked by successes and challenges overcome as a team. He has proven he has the speed and talent to compete at the front in F2. This season needs to be the one where everything comes together, and we will do everything we can to help him achieve his goals.”
