Tatuus has revealed its second-generation Formula Regional chassis which will replace its current car in various championships next year.
The Tatuus T-318 has been in use since 2018, and has had various modifications to accomodate multiple engine manufacturers and improving safety standards. Its successor, the Tatuus T-326, has been designed to run Autotecnica-built engines.
This includes three-cylinder Toyota units, which FRegional Middle East plans to use for its 2026 season when it adopts the second-generation car after eight seasons using the T-318. That run includes the time when it was branded as the FRegional Asian Championship.
In addition to further safety gains, Tatuus has incorporated more modern Formula 1-inspired bodywork styling into its new design and these contribute to improved performance figures which have primarily been achieved through “weight reduction, an optimised steering rack, and a revised suspension setup”.
A proper unveiling of the car, which will include further details, will take place later in 2025 once the FIA has homologated the design.
FRME is so far the only championship to confirm it will switch to the T-326 next year. At present, the T-318 is used in FRME and FRegional Europe and Eurocup-3, the latter in a modified form. It has also provided the basis for FRegional Oceania’s Tatuus FT-60, and was previously used in W Series and the Formula Renault Eurocup.
Ligier has also recently announced the creation of a second-generation FRegional car that will be launched later this year and used on track for the first time in 2026.
