Taranov grabs pole on Protyre return

Ivan Taranov has become the fourth driver to top a qualifying session in the Protyre Formula Renault season, as he narrowly secured pole on his return to the series at Silverstone.

Taranov will start race one alongside Sam MacLeod, who was half a tenth off the pace.

Caterham Racing Academy member Weiron Tan and series champion Chris Middlehurst will fill the second row, with Middlehurst narrowly edging Wei Fung Thong by only 001.s for fourth.

Jake Cook?took sixth, beating out Martin Cao by 0.016s and series debutant Piers Hickin by 0.038s respectively. The top ten was completed by Henrique Baptista, and Jorge Cevallos.
