MP Motorsport has added single-seater newcomer Lucas Fluxa to its Formula Winter Series and Spanish Formula 4 line-ups.

The 15-year-old Spaniard is the younger brother of Formula Regional racer Lorenzo and older brother of Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 junior Luna, and won the Spanish title for X30 Junior karts and the WSK Final Cup for OK Junior karts in 2021.

Lucas and Luna raced against each on Europe’s OK-J scene in 2022, with the former coming fourth in the one-off Champions of the Future Winter Series event, fifth in the WSK Super Master Series, seventh in CotF and 12th in the CIK-FIA World championship.

He tasted less success upon stepping up to senior karting, coming 31st in the IAME Winter Cup for X30 Senior karts and only 35th in the WSK Final Cup and 43rd in the CIK-FIA European championship for OK karts.

He began testing in F4 cars last November, and his first race outing will be in the FWinter Series opener at Jerez next month.

“I am very happy to make my motorsport debut in the Spanish F4 championship with MP,” said Fluxa. “I’m going to race in what feels like my home championship. That will help me to quickly find my feet in formula cars.

“MP has traditionally been one of the strongest teams in the championship, so I couldn’t wish for more for my first full season after karting. My team-mates look strong, so I am confident that we can lift each other to great heights.”

In Spanish F4, Fluxa will be team-mate to Mattia Colnaghi, who earned his seat by winning the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy shootout, former Sauber junior Maciej Gladysz, European karting champion Rene Lammers and Griffin Peebles.
