Elias Seppanen will make a Regional Formula 3 debut in the final ever Formula Renault Eurocup round at Paul Ricard this weekend.
Seppanen last weekend finished the ADAC Formula 4 season in third overall behind duelling Red Bull juniors Jonny Edgar and Jak Crawford.
The Finnish driver, who missed out on the South East Asia F4 title on dropped scores in 2019, won a race driving for US Racing at the opening round of the season and remained in championship contention until the final day.
His Eurocup appearance will come in a third car fielded by R-ace GP, a team he has competed against in F4 this season.
He will line up alongside the team’s championship contender Caio Collet and Michael Belov, who is contesting his third event with the French outfit since replacing Petr Ptacek.
It will only be the second time this season that the team has fielded three cars, after Kush Maini pulled out of his drive on the eve of the season. Johnathan Hoggard drove his car in the second round of the season at Imola.
Seppanen will be classed a wildcard entrant and therefore unable to score points.
Collet goes into the deciding round with a 44-point deficit to championship leader Victor Martins with 50 points available, having been forced to retire from race two at Hockenheim last Sunday with a mechanical issue. It means a top-six finish in either race will guarantee Martins the title.
