Cram Motorsport’s Alessio Rovera is still the only person who’s topped a Formula Abarth qualifying session in 2013, with the Italian securing his latest double pole during round three of the season at Mugello.
In session one, Rovera cleared the rest of the field by 0.7s, with Euronova’s Michele Beretta taking the second time. However, with Beretta on the receiving end of a three-place grid penalty from the previous round, it’s series returnee Dario Orsini who will line up on the front row for race one.
Two other series guests, Giorgio Roda and Kevin Gilardoni, will start from row two, while Lukas Moraes will join Beretta on the third row of the grid. The top eight is completed by Giada De Zen and the highest-placed National class driver Sergey Trofimov.
The second qualifying session ended up being much closer, with Rovera clearing nearest rival Orsini by less than a tenth of a second. Beretta took third, ahead of Gilardoni, Roda and Luis Michael Dorrbecker. Moraes and De Zen will start the race from row four, while Trofimov has again topped the National class in ninth.
Simone Iaquinta, who currently sits in second in the standings, did not manage to set a representative time in either session due to mechanical issues.
