Rodin Motorsport’s James Higgins set the pace in British Formula 4 qualifying at Snetterton with his final flying lap of the session.

A drying track and a late red flag period contributed to laptimes tumbling in the last moments of qualifying, with top spot changing hands twice after the chequered flag waved.

Hitech GP’s Reza Seewooruthun and Ninovic swapped times at the top of the order in the first part of the session. A 2m07.835s put Ninovic on provisional pole before the red flags appeared with six minutes remaining after Virtuosi Racing’s Maxwell Dodds had run into trouble and came to a stop on circuit.

Following the restart, there was time for just one more flying lap. Drivers down the order made improvements, with JHR Developments’ Joel Bergstrom and then Hitech’s Deagan Fairclough both briefly jumping up to second place.

When Seewooruthun crossed the line he finally moved back ahead of Ninovic by 0.16 seconds, but he would not stay on top for long as Higgins improved to 2m07.348s to claim race three pole by 0.32s.

Ninovic meanwhile could not improve and was shuffled down to third, but the 2m07.910s he set comfortably earned him pole for race one where the grid is set off drivers’ second-best laps. Seewooruthun and Higgins will line up second and third.

Rodin’s Jack Sherwood was sixth fastest overall, and qualified fourth for race one, while Argenti Motorsport’s Rowan Campbell-Pilling jumped up to seventh with his final lap. Xcel Motorsport’s Zack Scoular, Chris Dittmann Racing’s Bart Harrison and Rodin’s Abbi Pulling completed the session’s top 10.
