Valerio Rinicella will remain with MP Motorsport for his second season in Spanish Formula 4, after finishing sixth as a rookie this year.
Although he was not registered in the rookie classification of the Spanish championship, it was Rinicella’s first year of car racing and it began with a part-time F4 United Arab Emirates campaign with MP.
Rinicella had a best finish of 11th there, and followed it up with a Spanish F4 attach that resulted in two podiums and sixth in the standings. He also joined AKM Motorsport to race part-time in Italian F4, where he came 33rd in the championship.
“I’m really pleased to stay with MP for a second year in Spanish F4,” said Rinicella.
“The team and I gelled well during our first two campaigns in UAE F4 and Spanish F4, and I’m eager to continue our co-operation. Staying in the championship for another year will be the best platform for me to move further up the single-seater ladder. I’m ready to give it everything I have.”
Last year Rinicella was a factory Parolin driverin karting and became part of the Top Gun by Pro Racing project launched by Formula 1 grand prix winner Fisichella, as well as making the final of the Italian federation’s Supercorso Federale award.
“Valerio’s year of F4 experience will be a valuable asset to our Spanish F4 line-up for 2023”, said MP team principal Sander Dorsman.
“He is still young and has chosen wisely to remain at F4 level for a second year. This will allow him to grow into a consistent frontrunner while continuing to soak up what it means to be at the sharp end every weekend. We will do our best to help him reach that maximum level of performance.”
