Elite Motorsport has signed reigning Radical Cup UK champion Theo Micouris and Ginetta Junior podium finisher Finn Harrison for this weekend’s GB4 finale at Donington Park.
After a decorated karting career, Micouris stepped up to car racing in 2023 in the one-make Radical sportscar series, where he starred with nine wins and 14 pole positions and claimed both the overall and SR1 titles. He was 11th fastest in day one of GB4’s pre-event Donington test on Thursday, having had one test day in the car at the track previously.
“As it’s my first race in single-seaters, I am just going to make the most of the experience and enjoy every moment,” said Micouris.
“I have done one test day in a GB4 car, which was also with Elite, and my first day in a single-seater. It was at Donington Park Grand Prix [layout] where I managed to learn a huge amount for this weekend.
“After a dream first season in cars, I’m just trying to get my breath back and enjoy the moment. I’ve raced at Donington twice in a Radical this year, and in those six races, had four wins and two seconds.”
Harrison is currently eighth in the Ginetta Junior standings with four podium finishes, having made a mid-season switch to Elite from Assetto Racing. The 17-year old has opted to skip the final round in favour of GB4 at Donington, where both series are racing this weekend.
“I’m really looking forward to racing a GB4 car,” said Harrison, who was fifth fastest in testing on Thursday. “I’ve settled in very well since joining Elite in July and so staying with them for my GB4 introduction was an obvious choice.
“I’m under no illusion that with minimal testing, and racing against an experienced GB4 field, Donington will be tough for me, but it’ll be great experience for the future.”
Micouris and Harrison will be two of four drivers making their single-seater debuts, with Dan Hickey making his first car racing starts for Fortec Motorsports and Ginetta UK Championship racer Lexie Belk entering as privateer with support from fellow GB4 racer Dylan Hotchin.
Newly-crowned champion Tom Mills is not due to take part at the finale, with KMR Sport having also sewn-up the teams’ title with a round to spare. The team will field a two-car line-up for Jack Clifford and its returning Esports star Lucas Blakeley.
