Pietro Fittipaldi made it a perfect score in the World Series Formula V8 3.5 opener at Silverstone after winning the second race of the weekend.

He once again made a strong start from pole, with Lotus team-mate Rene Binder yet?again making a slower one and dropping behind Roy Nissany, Egor Orudzhev, Matevos Isaakyan and Nelson Mason.

Fittipaldi was once more?rapid, pulling out a four-second lead by the end of lap two. Further back Binder had made his way past rookie Mason and was pressuring Isaakyan.

He didn?t get an opportunity to attack though as Mason upped his game after the pitstops, setting fastest lap and overtaking Binder around the outside of Brooklands.

He attempted the move again when he reached Isaakyan but there was too little space and the pair collided, bringing out the safety car and reducing Fittipaldi?s hard-earnt lead.

During this time Orudzhev had made his way past Nissany for second, but had no reply to Fittipaldi when the green flag flew once more, the Brazilian pulling 1.5 seconds clear after the first lap of racing.

By the last lap he had a three second lead over the Russian, who finished almost three seconds clear of Nissany to take the second place that he lost yesterday due to an underweight car.

Binder held off a late challenge from Konstantin Tereshchenko to claim fourth, with Alfonso Celis prevailing in an all-Mexican Fortec battle for sixth with Diego Menchaca.

The crash between Isaakyan and Mason and the retirement of Yu Kanumaru due to mechanical issues resulted in another double points finish for the Il Baronte Rampante squad and only nine classified finishers.

Celis?s sixth place means he maintains a distant second in the championship ahead of Binder, with Orudzhev jumping up to fourth having ended yesterday last in the standings.
