AUTO - GT TOUR LE VIGEANT 2013

Anthoine Hubert

After plenty of pre-season testing miles, Hubert entered the 2014 French F4 championship as the rightful title contender and was largely unchallenged on his way to confirming that status.

He asserted his dominance right away in the opening round, securing both feature race victories and establishing a sizable lead in the standings right from the get go. He continued the same pattern at Pau and then produced one of the most impressive weekends of the season at Spa, taking the win in all three races.

His streak of feature race wins continued at Val de Vienne, with the others largely left to fight for “best of the rest”. At Magny-Cours, however, Hubert had a tough qualifying and missed out on victories for the first time all year, allowing Jules Gounon to display dominance.

Gounon and Hubert continued their rivalry at Ledenon, where Hubert briefly ensured the title in race one, before being penalized post-race for an alleged unfair defensive move on his main challenger. Still, a race later he was officially champion yet again, this time for good. Two wins in the Paul Ricard finale then rounded out Hubert’s brilliant car debut.

For 2014, the young Frenchman has his sights set on moving up to the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, reportedly looking to secure a race deal with Manor MP.
