New Zealander Nick Cassidy will drive for AV Formula in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 race weekend at Motorland next week.

Renault Sport have granted AV and the 2012 Toyota Racing Series champion, Cassidy, a wild-card entry for the weekend. But the eighteen-year-old is aware of the task ahead of him to be competitive with the field having not yet tested the car.

“I know I’ll be in at the deep end, and that the new car will take a bit of getting used to, but the opportunity to race with AV Formula who have great ambitions is too good to pass up. I like the circuit and it will be good to get back into race mode.”

AV, owned by ex-racing driver Adri?n Vall?s, already compete in both the Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup and the Renault 3.5 category and the Spaniard is looking forward to the event in his home country.

“I have been watching Nick’s performances for some time and his TRS performances really impressed me and convinced me that his race-craft and technical feed-back would make him a real asset to have in our team. We’re looking forward to working with Nick in Motorland and to an exciting weekend.”

Cassidy has been testing in GP3 with Marussia Manor Racing and told PaddockScout at the Silverstone test earlier this month that he “should be okay” to do the opening round at Barcelona with the team, one week after his Motorland race.
