Argentinian Javier Merlo is set to complete the Manor MP Motorsport lineup for the 2013 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season, joining Felipe Fraga and Oliver Rowland.
The 2013 season will be the debut appearance of the Argentinian 18-year-old on the international single-seater arena, having previously competed in two seasons of the local Formula Renault 2.0 Argentina, finishing seventh in his first season and taking the title the subsequent year.
According to reports from his homeland, Merlo confirmed that he will run with the Manor MP team in a press conference earlier this week.
In 2012, Manor MP employed a number of drivers over the year and, with only 43 points between them, finished way down in eighth in the Eurocup teams’ standings. However, with FR2.0 regulars Rowland and Fraga choosing the squad this year, they have the potential to run amongst the established leaders of the category.
Merlo may not be the only Argentinian to compete in the Eurocup this season, with Marcos Siebert reportedly close to a deal with Jenzer after testing with the Swiss team at the end of last year.
