Megennis tops Road America Indy Lights practice, Lundqvist hits trouble

Andretti Autosport’s Robert Megennis took the top spot in Indy Lights practice at Road America ahead of late-charger Alex Peroni, while championship leader Linus Lundqvist came to a stop.

The 45-minute session featured fastest times coming in the first 15 minutes mainly, with Megennis taking the top spot with a 1m56.0097s on tyres carried over from the previous event.

Carlin driver Peroni, meanwhile, spent much of the session sat in the pits. When he did emerge with about 20 minutes remaining, he immediately slotted into the top half of the 13-strong field before a red flag came out.

Lundqvist came to a halt at Canada Corner in his Global Racing Group with HMD Motorsports car. He was only seventh fastest at the time and although he was able to return to the track, he did not improve his time.

Once the session did resume, Peroni was able to climb up to third in the order, before slotting into second behind Megennis.

Juncos Racing’s Toby Sowery took third, ahead of Andretti’s Kyle Kirkwood.

Carlin’s Christian Bogle showed good speed with fifth, ahead of Andretti Steinbrenner’s Devlin DeFrancesco.

Behind Lundqvist were Andretti’s Danial Frost – who only completed five laps, HMD Motorsport’s David Malukas, Juncos’s Sting Ray Robb, HMD’s Nikita Lastochkin, GRG w/HMD’s Benjamin Pedersen and Pserra Racing’s Antonio Serravalle.
