Pepe Marti scored his maiden victory in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship after starting the second Motorland Aragon race from pole position and leading every lap.
The Campos Racing driver didn’t face any opposition in his way to win a race where he also set the fastest lap. This will mean that he will start race three from pole.
The cancellation of the second qualifying session as a result of race one’s postponement means that this evening’s race grid will be set according to each driver’s fastest time in this race.
It was a hectic race behind Marti, with lots of side-by-side battles for all the other top places in the top 10.
Second at the finish was championship leader Dilano Van’t Hoff. The MP Motorsport driver had to make some moves to reach the podium after starting eighth. A double-pass on Campos Racing’s Sebastian Ogaard and GRS Team’s Vladislav Ryabov at the last corner stood out among them all.
Ogaard could find his pace after difficult qualifying session and race one and finished third. The Danish driver momentarily moved ahead of Van’t Hoff when the pair went past Quique Bordas, but he couldn’t hold on to the position.
Ryabov and Drivex School’s Maksim Arkhangelskiy finished close behind in fourth and fifth respectively.
Bordas ended the race in sixth after dropping some places in the latter stages of the race. The Formula de Campeones ace had been running in second position for most of the race, but similarly to what happened in race one, he struggled a lot for pace towards the end.
His team-mate Daniel Macia stalled on the grid, dropping to the back of the pack. He made up some places, but it wasn’t enough to score points as he crossed the line in 16th.
Noah Degnbol, Alejandro Garcia, Gil Molina and Guilherme Oliveira, who dropped several places from his grid spot, completed the top 10.
