Italian youngster Raffaele Marciello topped the timesheets in the very first practice session of the 2013 European F3 championship, while Mucke’s Felix Rosenqvist set the pace in the second run.
While Marciello’s commandeering pace in the opening session came as no surprise, it was rookie Jordan King who set the second-fastest time for Carlin, edging out Pascal Wehrlein and Pipo Derani. Rosenqvist completed the top five ahead of Brits Will Buller, Tom Blomqvist and Harry Tincknell, while ma-con’s Sven Muller and Prema’s Alex Lynn completed the top ten.
Marciello was impressively quick in the second run as well, but was narrowly beaten to the top by Rosenqvist in a very competitive session that saw 18 drivers set a time within a second of the leader. Lynn was third this time, narrowly beating another rookie Dennis van de Laar.
Muller and Eddie Cheever, Jr. took fifth and sixth, with the Italian beating Wehrlein by 0.009s. The top ten was completed by Felix Serralles, Blomqvist and Buller.
