Macau Grand Prix winner Richard Verschoor has confirmed he will reunite with MP Motorsport for a second season in FIA Formula 3 Championship.
Last year the combination finished 13th in FIA F3 with three fourth place finishes, but went on to win the FIA F3 World Cup in Macau with the same car.
Verschoor was expected to continue with the team after he failed to secure a Formula 2 move, and confirmation of sorts of his drive came through a tweet after arriving in Bahrain for next week’s pre-season F3 test – where only one MP seat is vacant.
Extremely happy to stay with MP Motorsport for another year in the FIA Formula 3 Championship,” said Verschoor.
“The dream continues, the hard work has already started. Let’s go!
“Last year saw an upward trend in the second half of the season, culminating in that amazing victory at Macau where everything just clicked.
?I?m eager to continue this trend, and I’m confident that I can be a frontrunner in 2020.”
The 19-year-old previously raced for the team in Formula 4 (where he won the North European Zone and Spanish titles), Formula Renault 2.0 and GP3, but much of his career success has also come with M2 Competition in the Toyota Racing Series.
MP’s F3 team manager Sander Dorsman added: “It is good news that we will continue working together with Richard.
“Last year, we showed lots of promise in FIA F3 but now we aim for podiums and more victories.?
