Lukas Dunner set the pace in the first Euroformula Open free practice session at Hockenheim, marking the championship’s first visit to the circuit.
The Teo Martin Motorsport driver moved to the top of the times in the session with five minutes to go, and then improved on his best time to end the session with a 1m33.783s lap.
Having been the first team to break into the 1m33s, Double R Racing filled second and third place with Linus Lundqvist and Jack Doohan, both rebounding off the back of tricky weekend in Pau where they crashed.
Carlin, Motopark and Fortec Motorsports have experience of Hockenheim from the now cancelled FIA European Formula 3 Championship, but all failed to make an impact on the timesheets.
Christian Hahn was fourth fastest for Carlin, with a best time of 1m34.051, ahead of Motopark’s championship leader Liam Lawson.
Next up was Teppei Natori (Carlin) and Pau Grand Prix poleman Julian Hanses (Motopark), and Pau GP winner Billy Monger (Carlin).
Having set the early pace, Fortec Motorsports’ Cameron Das sank to ninth, with Motopark’s Marino Sato completing the top 10.
The fourth Motopark car of Yuki Tsunoda was 15th fastest, after stopping on track and only recording five laps.
